Why Wool Golf Club Covers Are the Sustainable Choice for Eco-Conscious Golfers

Finding sustainable products and processes is becoming increasingly important to ensure the long-term health and well-being of our planet and future generations. Sustainability is an important priority to us at Collingwood Golf Co, which is why we’re proud to use only 100% wool in our headcovers.

Knit golf club covers made with wool offer several advantages over synthetic materials, particularly in terms of environmental impact. Wool is a natural and renewable fibre that is biodegradable, thus reducing waste. Compared to synthetic materials like acrylic and polyester yarn or vinyl fabric, choosing wool also reduces the need for petroleum-based products and minimizes the carbon footprint of production. The yarn we use is also non-superwash, meaning it undergoes less chemical processing, further reducing the environmental impact of our covers.

Another factor that makes Collingwood Golf Co knit golf club covers a sustainable choice is our simple production process. Each cover is made by hand by a real person — there are no energy intensive machines in our studio. The only energy consumed in the making of our covers is whatever we had for lunch!

To take things a step further, we also strive to be as close to zero-waste as possible. Most of our yarn scraps are reused in our pompoms and tassels or as tag-ties, and what we can’t reuse we compost. Even our packaging is paper-based and recyclable, except for our mailers – which are 100% compostable instead!

By opting for eco-friendly knit covers, golfers can enjoy the game they love while supporting a more sustainable approach to the sport. Now you can have stylish clubs AND feel good about making an eco-friendly choice.
